How much CBD should I give my dog?

THE SHORT ANSWER

There is no universal CBD dose for every dog and product. Ask your veterinarian to interpret the specific label in light of weight, health, medications and the intended goal.

What the question leaves out

The number on the front of a bottle may describe its entire CBD content, not one serving. A drop, a milliliter and a full dropper are not interchangeable units. Comparing two oils by the number of drops can therefore be misleading.

Weight-based charts also leave out why the dog is receiving a product, other ingredients and concurrent treatment. Study protocols are not ready-made instructions for every household dog.

Make the next step useful

Photograph the front and back labels, lot number and measuring device. Ask the clinician to state the amount in the same units you can actually measure. If those instructions are unclear, resolve the uncertainty before administering anything.

Use one written record so family members cannot accidentally give duplicate servings. If there is no improvement or an unwanted effect occurs, contact the veterinarian rather than increasing the amount repeatedly.
