Can CBD solve separation anxiety in dogs?

THE SHORT ANSWER

CBD alone is not a proven solution for separation anxiety. Distress when left alone calls for assessment and a gradual, individualized behavior plan.

What the question leaves out

A shredded cushion does not tell the whole story. Camera footage may show immediate panic, later boredom or reactions to sounds outside. A dog can also be distressed without destroying anything. Timing is more useful than the amount of damage.

Brief separation in a research setting is different from a diagnosed disorder in a household. Treating those situations as interchangeable creates expectations the evidence cannot support.

Make the next step useful

Use a camera to observe a normal departure if doing so is safe for the dog. Share the recording with your veterinarian; do not extend an absence just to test a product. Arrange management that limits overwhelming episodes while a plan is developed.

Ask the clinician what progress should look like and when to reassess. If a supplement is included, record it alongside departure duration and other changes. Multiple simultaneous changes make the result much harder to interpret.

Questions, answered.

Is sleeping through an absence enough evidence of improvement?

No. Consider breathing, posture, recovery and other signs of comfort with professional guidance; apparent stillness is not the whole picture.
